Taking Stock: September 2021 Edition

Hello again, dear creatures. It's time for one of those stock taking things. Let's sit down with a cuppa and get right into it. Here goes:

Making: The most of it all. Sigh.

Drinking:   Chamomile tea. Also; wine. Swings and roundabouts.

Reading: Finished reading Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and began If I Never Met You by Mhairi MacFarlane. My brain only wants cutesy pie stuff at the moment.

Wanting: Equilibrium.

Looking:   Like I need a haircut.

DecidingWhat to have for dinner everyday is a big enough decision right now.

Wishing: That the Covid situation would improve.

Enjoying:  Listening to music.

Waiting: For restrictions and lockdown to ease just like everyone else.

Liking: Um. I dunno. I guess I like that I'm blogging again.

Wondering: What to have for dinner. See above.

Loving:  My current obsession is Crazy Ex-Girlfriend on Netflix. Best (and weirdest) show EVAHHH. Fight me.

Listening: To the Crazy Ex-Girlfriend soundtrack. See above.

Considering:  A nap. ZZZZ

Buying:  Groceries, scripts and hair dye. Exciting stuff if I don't say so myself.

I've ordered this book as well so that's super exciting. Squeee. Again. Fight me.

Watching:  Mr 12 and I just finished watching Never Have I Ever on Netflix. I've also been watching the final season of Rosehaven.  I'm so sad it's the final season. Wahhhh.

Marveling: At the fact that I still hardcore love my family after being stuck in lockdown for so long.

Hoping: I can see my parents again soon.

Needing A new brain would be nice.  Failing that, a solid mental health plan and a million dollars.

Questioning: My sanity. See above.

Smelling: My chamomile and lavendar body butter. I love it.

Wearing: Whatever's comfortable. Who's gonna see me?

Noticing: That I'm better off not watching the news, as bad as that sounds.

Knowing Nothing. Zip. Nada. Zilch. Zero. I know absolutely nothing about anything ever. I don't have a normal brain and I understand NOTHING.

Thinking My brain is mostly a loop of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend songs right now if I'm honest. And I like it that way, cause otherwise it short circuits into some really unhelpful stuff. Stoopid brain. Again; see above.

Admiring: People who don't get rattled easily by challenges and squeamishness. Is that a word? I dunno. I mentioned that I know NOTHING.

Getting: Well, I got vaccinated. So that's good.

Feeling: A bit on the wobbly and blah side if I'm honest.

EmbracingLockdown life. Well I don't really have any choice, so there's that.

That was a rather lacklustre stock take, I must admit. I am definitely experiencing a bit of the blahs lately. I suspect a lot of folks are. Fingers crossed for better times ahead! That is all.

Until next time,

Ness

Taking Stock: September 2019 Edition

Greetings and salutations, spectacular creatures! I trust life is treating you well. So here we are in September! Astonishing really, since it was January yesterday. WASN'T IT???! Just me?

Anyway, I figured it's a perfect time for a stock take! So on with the show...

Making: Toast. Tea. A million dollars. Okay, I made up the last one. But if I manifest my desires the universe will provide it, right? Snorts.

Drinking:  One of those fantazamagorical (totally a word) cocktails with a fun little umbrella. Manifesting again! Really drinking tea. Sigh.

Reading: Recently I have read:

The Truths And Triumphs of Grace Atherton by Anstey Harris.

The Flat Share by Beth O'Leary

I Thought I Knew You by Penny Hancock

The Trauma Cleaner by Sarah someone or other. And many more. We could be here for days...

Have also been listening to numerous audio books. I still prefer paper books for fiction but listening is good for non-fiction.

Wanting: A shoulder massage would be nice.

Looking:  At old houses, mostly in America, on this Facebook page, for no reason whatsoever. Well, I suppose I need a plan in place, in case I should ever decide to change my identity and disappear forever. An old creaky house in Maine or somewhere should suffice. Yep, definitely been reading too many novels again...

Deciding: Whether I'd like the million dollars (see above) in full or installments. However the universe in all its abundance decides I guess. Just hurry up, universe. Hmph.

Wishing: That shitty shit wouldn't happen to good people.

Enjoying:  The arrival of spring and its enchanting sunshine of the last few days. Of course I'll still moan like a b$#ch when summer hits. That's just how I roll.

Waiting: For the universe to get its act together. I'm terrified over here.

Image result for you attract what you fear meme

Liking: I'll tell you one thing for nothing: I've been getting up early and exercising. And I like it! I mean, not nearly as much as I like cake, but still.

Wondering: About TAFE assessments. I have two to complete and another submitted. The latter one is concerning because I have a hideous sinking feeling I may not have passed. Stay tuned. Sigh.

Loving:  The simple things like patting Cookie dog and cups of tea.

And this rather spectacular thing: my tit crushing results were all clear. Woo hoo!

Listening: To Dateline on the telly and YouTuber Sheldon Tweedy (Mickey Blue Eyes is a fan, something to do with soccer or whatever, don't ask me) Cause yeah, it's important to have an informative current affairs programme on to ignore while you faff about on the internet. Works for us.

Considering:  Options for my eventual work placement for TAFE. I can choose a type of library. It's exciting! Shut up. I do get out. Usually to the library. Details.

Buying:  I would be buying that old house in Maine (back up plan), plus a new one in Sydney, if the universe stepped up. So rude.

Meanwhile, groceries from Aldi it is!

Watching: The Downton Abbey movie. Well, I will be on Saturday. Squeeeeeeeeee!

Marveling: At life, the universe and everything. By everything I mean that million dollars I'm still waiting for... Waiting, waiting waiting...

Hoping: I'm wrong about the failed assessment. Gulp.

Needing: Definitely need a neck massage. In addition to the shoulder massage I mentioned before. Also need a word with the genius who coined this whole manifesting palaver. It's almost like it's made up bollocks or something.

Questioning: So many questions. What to have for dinner? Why do so many young women  have terrifying eyebrows? Will I fail the afore mentioned assessment? Why doesn't this manifesting bollocks work? WHY???

Smelling: Roast chooken and choc chip cookies. I've been cooking like a ninja.

Wearing: An attractive array of garments. Currently they consist of : pyjama pants, an old jumper, a fluffy cardigan over it, and a foolish expression. Nice.

Noticing: I couldn't help noticing that Cadbury blocks were $3.50 in our local IGA supermarket the other day. Foolishly I bought one. Should have bought half a dozen. DOH.

Knowing:  Knowing when to leave may be the smartest thing that anyone can learn! Flyyyyy...

Ahem. Sorry. Carpenters/Bacharach song. You probs don't know it...

Shoulda went with ABBA instead: Knowing Me, Knowing You! Ahaaaaaa...

Thinking:  If I really think about it, I'm sure I'll think of something for Thinking. Hmmmm. I don't think so.

Admiring: My children. I made gorgeous humans.

Getting: Up early. But I already mentioned that. And now that I've been all smug and superior watch me slip back into slothfulness. Serves me right, really.

Opening: Books, handouts, websites, documents and databases related to my studies. It's all happening.

Closing: Facebook. Sometimes. Shut up. I do!

Feeling: Apprehensive about that assessment. Delighted about the mammogram. Also: hungry. What else is new?

Embracing:  Early mornings. I know. I need to shut up about that. So I will...

DONE.

And considering it's September right after January I may as well take this opportunity to wish you a happy Christmas and a merry New Year! I'm afraid to blink cause then it'll be 2020...

Okay, I'm off to find some toothpicks to lodge in my eyelids.

Until next time, stay spectacular!

Taking Stock: September 2018 Edition #LifeThisWeek

Making: Beds. I've gotten into a habit of doing so most mornings. Gives me the illusion that I've got my shit together.

Cooking: I made a shepherd's pie recently that was a hit. What else? Hmmm. Toast. Does that count?

Drinking: Green smoothies made with zucchini, kale, banana, coconut milk and a dash of honey. Gives me the illusion that I'm healthy.

Reading: Currently reading Three Little Lies by Laura Marshall. I'm enjoying it even though it kinda jumps all over the place with the characters and years. Prior to this I read an old Paullina Simons called Road To Paradise. It dragged a bit for me in the middle but I liked it in the end.

Also read a non-fiction title: You're Not That Great. It wasn't that great.

Trawling: I wonder why I leave this one in here. I never trawl.

Wanting: A holiday would be lovely.

Looking: For a part-time job. Wait. What? Yes, you read right. I'm doing it.  Trying, anyway.

Deciding: On some sort of further studies to go along with the job stuff. Library related stuff, because that's what I've done before and it suits me.

Wishing: Someone would just jump over the fence and offer me a job. No, I'm not drunk. That's a scenario I once read in a novel. Can't remember the name of the novel, but the heroine decided she wanted a job and BOOM her neighbour became her bestie and offered her a job. Totally happens in real life, right? Any librarians out there who wanna be my bestie?

Enjoying: A bit of RAIN. You know, that wet stuff that comes from the sky? That.

Waiting: For a lottery win. Will be waiting a LONG time. We never take a ticket.

Liking: The roast dinner we had was pretty good.

Wondering: Why washing up can't do itself.

Loving: My family. I think I'm gonna keep 'em.

Listening: To not much of anything. It's quite peaceful at the moment. As soon as I type this bedlam will ensue in ten, nine, eight, seven...

Considering: Shoving the dishes outside in the rain and hoping for the best.

Buying: Groceries. Just for something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

Watching: I watched an old movie from the 70s yesterday. The Last Married Couple In America starring George Segal and Natalie Wood. It was really bad. The hairstyles and some of the so-called humour from those times haven't worn well.

Marvelling: At many things.

Hoping: I won't blink my eyes and it's Christmas. *tries not to blink* 😵

Needing: A washing up fairy. Or, you know, one of those new-fangled contraption things people have that wash dishes? Whatever they are. I wouldn't know.

Questioning: How September came around so quickly. *blinks* OOPS. Merry Christmas everyone!

Smelling: There is a bit of a rainy day aroma with a hint of Krispy Kreme donuts happening here. We smashed a dozen of those babies between the five of us. We picked them up on the way back from my brother's 50th birthday lunch the other day. We'd already had a meal, plus cake, but that didn't stop us, because we're living our best lives obviously.

Wearing: Navy track suit pants, a purple jumper and green cardigan. Classy.

Noticing: My feet are cold. I really should put on ugs on to complete my alluring look.

Knowing: The dishes will NOT do themselves. A washing up fairy will NOT arrive. So rude.

Thinking: I need to exercise. And do dishes. Sigh.

Admiring: Mr 9, until he tells me it's creepy that I stare at him.

Getting: Tired. Until I actually get into bed... BOOM! I'll be wide awake.

Opening: Books. Always

Closing: Dunno.

Feeling: Pretty groovy right now. Also, kinda lazy. Groovy lazy is totally a thing. It's like the regular kind of lazy but you have shades on. Or something.

Celebrating: Three years cancer free!!!! Had my girls crushed last week and the results were GOOD. WHEEEEE!

Pretending: To exercise by typing the word exercise. Exercise exercise exercise. Done.

Embracing: Uncertainty. Hmmm. Think I said that last time but it still applies.

End Of Stock Take.

Later dudes!

What are you celebrating in September?

Monday, 2 July 2018

Taking Stock: July 2018 #LifeThisWeek

Making: I don't really make much besides mess. It's a gift of mine. Winning.

Cooking: Lots of roast dinners and soups because winter.

Drinking: The occasional glass of plonk. And approximately 12 billionty cups of tea. Just for something COMPLETELY out of the ordinary.

Reading:  Various library books, including:

The Lucky One by Caroline Overington.

Is it just me or does there seem to be a tendency for authors to go too overboard with twisty endings these days? I don't know if it's a post Gone Girl thing or something? Anyway that was the feeling I was left with after reading the above title. Draw your own conclusions, I guess.

Sisters and Lies by Bernice Barrington.

I enjoyed this one. Highly recommended.

Trawling: Still haven't taken up trawling. Unless it's the library shelves.

Wanting:  To watch Hello Dolly! starring Barbra Streisand again because I'm a dag.

Looking: For a Hello Dolly DVD at op shops. Didn't find it but did find the movie Shirley Valentine and season two of The Golden Girls. I like to live in the past.

Deciding: Which daggy film and or TV shows to watch next.

Wishing: Lots of things.

Enjoying: Watching old daggy movies and TV shows. See above.

Waiting: Waiting, waiting, waiting... For what, I don't know. But if I keep waiting, surely it will come to me?

Liking: Electric blankets and hot showers. Although not together because that wouldn't end well.

Wondering: What delectable delights we can have for lunch. It's only 11am, but details.

Loving: Hot soup and sleep ins. Although not together because who sleeps with soup? Well, I guess you never know. Have you ever watched an episode of My Strange Addiction?

Listening: Songs from Hello Dolly which are on a permanent loop in my head.

"We got elegance. If you ain't got elegance, you can never ever carry...

IT. OFF!"

Considering: Folding the pile of washing on the bed, but then I might be too overcome with the sheer and utter thrill of such a thing, rendering it impossible to return to normal life forevermore. Can't take that chance.

Buying: A couple of DVDs and A Women's Weekly Basic Cookbook from a Salvos op shop.

Watching: I think we've already covered this.

Hoping: That my upcoming yearly mammogram will be all clear. I won't have it until August but that's coming all too quickly. Ugh.

Marvelling: At how quickly the years fly by. Cliche, but true. See above.

Needing: To lose weight, de-clutter, exercise, fold the washing, cook dinner, hug a child. Well, at least I've done the latter. That's something.

Questioning: Why I can't think of anything here but tonight when I want to sleep my brain will explode with ALL THE QUESTIONS.

Smelling:  Mandarins.

Wearing: Layers of clothing. Because c..c...c...cold.

Noticing: That there's socks for cold feet and gloves for cold hands, but what about cold noses? Well, okay there's balaclavas, but I don't want to look like a bank robber.

Knowing: I'd wear a god damn balaclava and walk around looking like a robber if I lived where it snowed.

Thinking: I'm thinking that thinking is overrated.

Admiring: My dog. She's cute. 🐕

Getting: Ready for school holidays.

Disliking: Cold noses. Well, I only have one. You know what I mean.

Opening: Books, the fridge, my phone. Such a classy person.

Closing: Um. Books when I finish reading them.

Feeling: Peckish. It's lunch time here, you see. Plus I'm always peckish. Shut up.

Celebrating: My eldest son is turning 17 next week. Wait. What? Yep. My 'miracle baby' is 17! See? I wasn't wrong about the whole time flying cliche thing.

Pretending:  To be a writer by participating in this Festival Of Words thing over at Write Tribe. It was fun!

Embracing: Writing more. And, I dunno, uncertainty about different things. What else can you do?

And that completes my June stock take.

Linking up for #LifeThisWeek.

What are you loving in the month of June?

Taking Stock: April 2018 Edition

Making: Beds. Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner. Tea. Coffee. You know, all the thrilling things.

Cooking: Cauliflower soup. Tacos. Roast chicken and veggies. Because apparently I am not very original.

Drinking: Four dollar sparkling moscato from Aldi. FANCY.

Reading:  Various library books, including:

Without Merit by Colleen Hoover.

Loved it. Read it in 24 hours.

Now That You Mention It by Kristan Higgins.

Loved this one, too. Read it in 24-48 hours.

Trawling: I do not trawl. What am I? A fisherman?

Wanting:  I pretty much have everything important in life. Family, health, food, shelter... hashtag blessed and all that. But I'll still take a truck load of cash, thank you very much.

Looking: At the ceiling fan and thinking I should probably clean it sometimes. But how would I recover from such excitement?

Deciding: Which book to read next.

Wishing: We could get away on a holiday.

Enjoying: The cooler weather. I can wear my pajamas all day. Don't judge me. Hmph.

Waiting: For the kettle to boil. Exciting times if I don't say so myself.

Liking: The end of school holidays. HALLELUJAH.

Wondering: If we are sorta kinda maybe jinxed or something. Just me catastrophising again. As you were.

Loving: Quiet time I scored yesterday while Mickey Blue Eyes took the boys to the movies.

Listening: To Mickey Blue Eyes clattering dishes in the kitchen and birds chirping (is that a word?) in the distance.

Considering: Running up and down the street stark bollocky naked. Just to liven things up. But that would be ridiculous. I don't run.

Also, is bollocky a word?

Buying: Groceries. Just for something COMPLETELY different.

Watching: Ridonkulous melodramatic movies on YouTube (shut up, I don't have Netflix). You know the ones. Based on a "true" story, starring Shannon Doherty or some other D grade faded television actor. I scoff and eye roll at them but then subsequently do some comprehensive research lazy internet searching and find it they are essentially true. Truth is stranger than fiction, people.

Hoping: Cups of tea can make themselves at some point in the future. Like, say, in five minutes. Surely we should have the technology by now?

Marvelling: At the word "marvelling". Isn't it MARVELLOUS.

Needing: A kick up the ciber.

Questioning: Life, the universe and everything.

Smelling:  Tea.

Wearing: Trackie daks (Australian for sweatpants), teamed with an attractive purple jumper. I know what you're thinking. I should really jump into that "everyday style" hashtag thing pronto.

Noticing: All the mother's day propaganda in the store catalogues. As if all we do is eat chocolate in our pajamas all day. Hmph. Oh wait...

Knowing: I know nothing. Not a thing. Zip. Nada. Sweet FA, as the saying goes. Clueless.

Thinking: People are weird.

Admiring: People. They're SO WEIRD and they don't even know.

Getting: Fat. Well, fattER, if that's a word.

Disliking: The fatter thing. See above. But apparently not enough to actually stop eating two thirds of a packet of chocolate covered peanuts in one sitting on Saturday. The final third went to my family, so I do share. Kinda. Sorta. Shut up.

Opening: Books. What else?

Closing: The fridge. Sometimes. Mostly I open it. Which answers the above question. Ahem.

Feeling: Fair to maudlin, as the saying goes. Or is it middling?

Celebrating:  Well, I haven't eaten anything in a full ten minutes. That certainly calls for a celebration! And there's only one way to celebrate: with FOOD! 🍨🍧🍦🍩🍰🍪🍫🍬🍭🍮🍮🍳🍳🍔

Pretending:  I'm a sane, rational, functioning adult. Tricked you! Snorts.

Embracing: Mr 9. Love that kid.

So there you have it. That is me tacking stock this amazing April.

What are you celebrating in the month of April?

Monday, 26 February 2018

Taking Stock - February 2018 Edition

Making: An effort to be (reasonably) tidy, organised and have a morning routine. I didn't even make that up. It's true! Seriously. Stop laughing! Sniff.

Cooking:Lots of really nice recipes out of books from the library. I like to pretend it's still 1990 and there's not billions of the things on the internet. Works for me.

Drinking: Recently I switched back to decaf tea. Because that's how exciting and cutting edge my life is. Be very jealous.

Reading:  Various library books, including:

Tales From Below Stairs: The Bestselling Memoirs of a 1920's Kitchen Maid by Margaret Powell.

Quite an interesting and easy read, especially if you're a Downton Abbey fan like me. The author also wrote several other books  including a cookery one which would be interesting to have a bit of a gawk at.

Did She Kill Him? A Victorian Tale Of Deception, Adultery & Arsenic by Kate Colquhoun.

True story of Florence Maybrick, who was convicted of poisoning her husband with arsenic in 1889. In my humble opinion, I reckon she was completely innocent, which makes it a heartbreaking story. Although she escaped being hanged (Eeeeeek!), she spent fifteen years in prison. She died in 1941, penniless and living in squalor. So sad.

Six Degreess by Honey Brown.

Fiction. Sex, sex and more sex. I didn't even fathom this from the title of the first chapter: Threesome. What am I like?

Trawling: Library Books. Obviously. Just for something different.

Wanting: Rain! Lots of it. Pouring, soaking, glorious RAIN. Side note: it did start pouring after I wrote this! Perhaps I'm a witch or something. Muahahaha!

Looking: Like a potato with grey hair. So attractive.

Deciding: What to type here. Hmmmm. Decisions. Decisions. Nope. Got nothing.

Wishing: THIS:

Enjoying: A nice hot cup of decaf tea. Because I like to do wild and crazy things on Monday mornings.

Waiting: For summer to be over.  Today is actually giving me the illusion that it is. But it will spring back from the depths of hell to incinirate me one more time, I'm sure.

Liking: Inane things. Like the word 'inane'. Love it.

Wondering: Why I have such demented dreams. And why I'm demented in general.

Loving: Snuggling in bed when it's raining.

Listening: To the rain. A dog barking. The tap tap of my own typing. Blissful silence.

Considering: What recipe to cook next. Feels like good soup weather today.

Buying: Food, food, food and more food. And then, five minutes later we need food again. I never have money to buy anything else because it's all spent buying food.

Watching: Bits and pieces of the ice skating in the winter Olympics. The only sport I can watch without nodding off.

Hoping: We can go on a holiday some time this year.

Marvelling: That we can eat quite so much food.

Needing: According to my shrink I need to make friends. Bwahahahahahaha! She doesn't know who she is dealing with here. Besides, doesn't she know that I have lots of imaginary friends inside the computer? They count, don't they? HMPH.

Questioning: How on earth you make friends?

Smelling: Pain Away Arthritis cream. Because I appear to be a 95 year old woman called Ethel.

Wearing: Stretchy 'yoga' pants that I never do yoga in, sexily teamed with a fleecy pyjama top. Tousled bed hair completes the look. Nice.

Noticing: I have a sore throat. It's so sad. A very tragic situation. And now there is violin music swelling in the background.

Knowing: Knowing Me, Knowing You! A-HAAAAAAAA!
Okay, that's an Abba song, but that's what came to mind. And it's mixing it up from Carpenters songs, so shut up.

Thinking: I need to exercise. I have a sore throat. Why did I put that Abba song in my head? I love the rain. I hate other shit. Where did I put my phone? What day is it?  I wish I could stop thinking...

Admiring: My family. They're pretty awesome. I think I'll keep them.

Getting: Myself sorta kinda reasonably organised and tidy. Wait. WHAT? Yepski, it's true. See: Making. No idea how long it will last but it's good shit at the moment.

Disliking: Unspeakable things. Hideous, vile things. I not only dislike these things, but hate them with a passion. You don't want to know. No really, you don't.

Opening: My mind. To trying to be tidier, kinder to myself and more positive. Something like that anyway. Oh, shut up.

Closing: My eyes for a snooze.

Feeling: Tired.  See: Closing.

Celebrating: Mr 13 will be Mr 14 in a few weeks. I also like to celebrate the small wins. Like getting out of bed in the morning. That's something, right?

Pretending:  I've got my shit together.

Embracing: Home hacks. Well, some of them. Others are just STUPID.

So there you have it. That is me tacking stock this fabulous February. Side note: it's only fabulous because it's over in a few days and, with it, summer. Good riddance!

What are you celebrating in the month of November?

Monday, 20 November 2017

Taking Stock: November Edition

Making: Cups of tea. What else?

Cooking: Dinner. I am still expected to do this EVERY NIGHT because the Dinner Fairy never arrives. HMPH.

Drinking: Tea and water. I did buy a bottle of wine the other day and then realised I was on anti-biotics so I couldn't have any. Cue weepy violin music.

Reading: Just finished a novel I borrowed from the library called The Misinterpretation Of Tara Jupp. It was okay, but waaay too long. Now I have to decide what to read next.

Trawling: Hmmm, no trawling whatsoever happening for me at the moment.

Wanting: World peace. A cure for cancer. To eat whatever I want and not get fat. Twenty million dollars. Yeah, just when you thought I was deep...

Looking: For a good book to read.

Deciding: The book thing. See above.

Wishing: I was one of those insane sporty people who love running and crossfit and netball and soccer and bats balls boorrring...

Enjoying: The last few weeks of spring before the seventh circle of hell that is summer arrives.

Waiting: Seems like I'm always waiting for anxiety to pass. It always does, BUT.... lordy I'm sick of it. Sigh.

Liking: Typing shitty words. I'm weird.

Wondering: This that and the other. About life, the universe and everything.

Loving: Don't really know, other than the usual trite answer of my boys.

Listening: To too many true crime podcasts. Some one make me stoooop...

Considering: Going back to another dietitian. I went a while back and was kind of underwhelmed... but anyway, excuses excuses...

Buying: Lots of groceries. And some clothes for the boys and myself.

Watching: Ummm. Not watching much besides Rosehaven and The Letdown on ABC.

Hoping: Certain things I cannot speak of will work out.

Marvelling: There is no marvelling at the moment. Not feeling particularly marvelous at all right now. This too shall pass.

Cringing: At this post. It's so boring.

Needing: Cold hard cash, a kick up the arse, a new brain, a new body. And, I dunno, everything.

Questioning: Why I'm even bothering with this.

Smelling: Coffee.

Wearing: Granny clothes, because I'm classy like that.

Noticing: I have a sore throat and I'm in a sooky la la mood today. See above.

Knowing: Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Capital N, capital O, capital T... Oh okay, you know how to spell nothing in caps.

Thinking: I'm thinking that thinking is over rated.

Admiring: Happy, perky, bubbly people... That is, when I don't want to stab them...

Getting: Ready to pack for Mr 16's school camp and a road trip I'm going on with my mum to Wagga Wagga to visit relatives.

Disliking: Anxiety and tooth issues. Related: I had a tooth abcess and then had to have the tooth extracted last week. Fun times.

Opening: Um. Cupboards and drawers so I can pack. See above.

Closing: Same.

Feeling: Blah. Sooky sooky la la...

Celebrating: Nothing. Capital N, capital O... Oh yeah, we already did this.

Pretending:  People read this shit. Then again, just as well they don't...

Embracing: I dunno. Nothing, really.

Yeah, so that was depressing. Oops.

Tune in next time, when I will be back to my usual perky sunny cheerful self... Snorts.

What are you celebrating in the month of November?

Taking Stock - September Edition

Making: You know what? I don't really make things, unless you count breakfast, lunch and dinner. And even then it's often toast.

Cooking: Dinner. See above. What exciting and delectable delights have I concocted of late? Um. Yeah, just the toast thing.

Drinking: My usual cups of tea. Sometimes I mix it up and have coffee. But mostly tea. Also GALLONS of water because I'm just getting over a cold.

Reading: Just finished a novel I borrowed from the library called Beside Myself by Ann Morgan. It was SO GOOD. Now I'm having trouble letting it go and moving on to another book. What am gonna DO??? *starts reading ten other books*

Trawling: Through all the mess and dust and cobwebs. Related: I began cleaning the other day and thought I was making good progress until I paused to put on my glasses so I could actually see properly. Big mistake.

Wanting: New clothes. I hate all my clothes.

Looking: Mournfully into my wardrobe and sighing. See above.

Deciding: I don't know anything about everything in the whole entire world ever. Also, I can't make decisions. So, I can't decide what I'm deciding. I've decided.

Wishing: That I could afford an entire wardrobe of new clothes. Because I hate my clothes. Did I mention that?

Enjoying: Oh! I actually started bullet journaling and I'm ENJOYING it. I suspected it'd be more like bullshit journaling to scatty old me. But blow me down and woosh me all the way back to ancient Egypt if I didn't surprise myself by liking it. I mean, I'm still a hot mess, but I have a pretty book and pens with lists and symbols and shit in it, so that's something.

Waiting: For the wheels to fall off  my bullet journal experiment. Metaphorically speaking. It doesn't actually have wheels.

Liking: Bullet-journaling! See above.

Wondering: The first thing that came to mind was the Wombles theme song... I wondered how it went. Haven't heard it for YEARS. I thought it said something about wondering wombles or wombles are wondering... Or something. Anyway, I was wrong. But at least I get the important issues resolved. You're welcome.

Loving: The sunshiney spring weather. I want it to linger before the seventh circle of hell that is summer arrives.

Pondering: How long it will take to get the Wombles theme song out of my head...

Listening: To the voices in my head. It's chatty up there. Too bad that never translates to real life situations. Oh,well. Meh.

Considering: Having a go at NaNoWriMoStarting a strenght-training routine like I did YEARS ago. Doing yoga (also been years...) . Meditating. Failing yet another attempt at becoming veggo. Just considering all this, mind you. Probably never do any of it. Except the failing thing. I can manage that.

Buying: I totally SPLURGED the other day and bought a two dollar shirt and journal in KMart. I know! What am I like? SO frivolous.

Watching: Ummm. Offspring (finished now). The Wrong Girl and Pulse. Also, SBS Insight... And other random shit.

Hoping: That we might be able to go on one of our glamorous holidays some time in the future. Denman, here we come! Don't ask...

Marvelling: At the juxtaposition of how complicated yet boring as batshit life can be.

Cringing: At my weight that is creeping up and up and up.... eeeeek...

Needing: To lose weight. Sigh.

Questioning: Why I can't just buy all the clothes. I REALLY hate my clothes.

Smelling: My signature dish: Toast.

Wearing: Revolting clothes that I HATE. Also, more clothes that I hate. And then I have to wear clothes that utterly repulse me. Yeah. Cause I hate my clothes.

Noticing: I'm pretty sure I hate my clothes.

Knowing: Yep. HATE. MY. CLOTHES.

Thinking: About all the clothes I would buy, but then I'd probably just hate them too.

Admiring: Other people's clothes.

Getting: Well, I'm certainly not getting any clothes. Sniff.

Disliking: Do I really have to answer that? Okay, then. Books with dumb or disappointing endings. There! Tricked you! You thought I was I gonna say my clothes! So ner.

Opening: Books. I still love a good old-fashioned paper book.

Closing: My wardrobe doors. It's too utterly devastating and soul-destroying to look at the ATROCITIES in there. Now would be a good time to Konmari the f@*k out of my wardrobe. None of my clothes 'spark joy'. But then I would have to walk about naked and nobody wants that.

Feeling: Fat. Also, like I want to eat all the chocolate. Is it possible the two are related? Hmmmm...

Celebrating: My yearly mammogram results were ALL GOOD! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Pretending: That the washing up will do itself if I wait long enough. I don't think it's gonna work. Sigh.

Embracing: Bullet-journaling, clothes-hating. My children. Well, Mr 8 - the other boys are less huggy these days. It happens.

Done! That's my stock-taking for September.

What are you celebrating in the month of September?

Taking Stock - July Edition

Making: A mess. I'm so skilled at this. It's a gift, I tell you!

Cooking: My signature dish. It's called: Whatever's In The Fridge. Or my other gourmet creation, imaginatively titled: Eat It And Shut Up.

Drinking: Waaaaaaaay too much tea. A little coffee and wine. And some water. Boiled, with a teabag and a dash of skim milk added... Okay, more tea. What can I tell you. It's a terrible addiction.

Reading: I just finished reading a so-called romantic suspense novel. It was shit. Is it just me or does there seem to be this cliche in thrillers where the killer always turns out to be the 'quiet/shy/introvert/awkward type? Shits me to tears. Most of us quiet folk can't handle any confrontation or raise our voices let alone kill some one. Lift your game, thriller authors!

Trawling: Drawers and washing baskets looking for that most elusive of things known to humankind: matching socks. WHERE do all the odd socks go? Related: my feet are FREEZING.

Wanting: A cure for cancer. Also; anxiety. A magic diet pill, a jumbo sized bottle of wine with a funnel, warm feet (see above), a good lie down, a kick up the bum and approximately seven million dollars in crisp one hundred dollar bills. Not to much to ask, is it?

Looking: For inventive ways to stay warm. And sane. Any suggestions?

Deciding: Whether to have yet another cup of tea. Pfffft. The decision (meaning the actual cup of tea...) was already made.

Wishing: That all the good and groovy folk didn't have to suffer while ass holes walk around unscathed.

Enjoying: Reading, cups of tea, cuddles with Mr 8, snuggling in bed with the electric blanket on a frosty winter's evening. You know, all the simple little pleasures in life.

Waiting: Tragically, I am often waiting for pesky old anxiety to pass. But it ALWAYS does. That is the key thing to remember.

Liking: The fact that I seem to be getting into regular exercise again... But I'm almost too scared to say it, because every time I publicly announce these things I fail spectacularly. So I had better shut up.  Shhhhh, don't tell anyone!

Wondering: Why it is so incredibly difficult for me to warm my feet in winter. Everyone always tells me it's 'easy' to get warm in winter. Meanwhile, my feet are blocks of ice.  With thick socks and ugg boots on sitting in front of a heater. Gah.

Loving: That's it's school holidays. Sleep-ins FTW! I'm sure this will change very quickly by the week's end.

Pondering: This and that.

Listening: To the hum of the heater and a car in the distance.

Considering: Things that I am not going to announce here because... Well, see: Liking. Nuff said.

Buying: Lots of groceries and food. Does winter make everyone want to eat and eat and EAT ALL THE HOT FOOD? Yep, me too. Same as every other season, really.

Watching: I began watching reruns of Mad About You, just for something mindless to do while I'm folding washing. Anyway, there was episode the other day when it was NYE in 1996. And I suddenly realised, that is TWENTY-ONE years ago! Jebeez, I feel ancient.

Hoping: That my upcoming mammogram in August will be all clear again for the second year. Fingers, toes, legs, arms, eyeballs crossed!

Marvelling: At how time flies, and at my beautiful family.

Cringing: At the thought of having my tits crushed again. I can deal with the pain, but waiting for the results is very anxiety-provoking.

Needing: See: Wanting. They're not just wants, they're NEEDS, I tell you!

Questioning: Life, The Universe and Everything. Also; what can I eat next?

Smelling:  My dinner. Pie, mash and peas. Total comfort food. I don't even care. It was GOOD.

Wearing: I am certainly NOT wearing my pyjamas. Nope. No way. Oh shut up, it's COLD!

Noticing: That my unpleasant little 'friend' (aka anxiety) has snuck up on me again.

Knowing: The unpleasant 'friend' will be shown the door very soon.

Thinking: About what book to read next.

Admiring: Anyone who is battling anxiety. You're a bloody legend.

Getting: Cold. Fat. Old. I won't be cold forever, though. Shame about the other two...

Bookmarking: Nothing!

Disliking: That all the good and groovy people suffer. See:Wishing

Opening: Books. I still love a good old-fashioned paper book.

Closing: Drawers and cupboards so I can't see the mess and my epic failure to embrace the Konmari method.

Feeling: At the moment, I feel kinda neutral and even. I like that. Wish I could bottle certain feelings and banish others for good.

Hearing: Hang on, didn't I already answer this?

Celebrating: We have several birthdays coming up. Mr 15 becomes Mr 16 (yikes!) in 7 days, then it's my Mum's birthday on the 26th. And in August, it's Mickey Blue Eyes's turn. Yay! CAKE!

Pretending: That I'm a mature, sensible adult. Yeah, nobody's fooled, least of all me.

Embracing: Electric blankets, track suit pants and fleecy pyjamas as day wear. I have drawn the line at wearing them to go shopping, though it's tempting... Especially because nothing much fits me right now. Oops.

Done! That's my stock-taking for the month of July!
