About Me

About me? What would you like to know?

Firstly, my name is Vanessa but everyone calls me Ness. I'm a rather ordinary strikingly attractive crummy yummy Mummy living the boring glamorous life in the 'burbs. I'm married to Mickey Blue Eyes and we have three marvellous boys. I'm witty and acerbic. Cutting edge and a rebel. At this point I should probably mention that I also tend to be delusional.

This is my space to be myself when I want to and pretend to be some one else when I don't. After all, I've done my share of pretending. At age 40 I was diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder formerly know as Asperger's Syndrome (or Ass Burgers Syndrome). Information that would have been helpful 30 years ago, but at least I understand myself better these days.

But it's all good because I've found my place in this mad world and invented my own little world into the bargain! (I blame all those Enid Blyton books I read while I was growing up).

Welcome to Nessville! Yes, it's my own little world, but I do like visitors!

If you like your blog reading with a side serving of self-deprecation and cakies you've come to the right place! On the other hand if you want wisdom and deep intellectual musings about important issues, you've also come to the right place! (As long as the issues are also cake-related or about bringing back the Pollywaffle).

I write about my avant garde interests such as cakies and Karen Carpenter. I did mention I'm a rebel.

You can also read my amusing anecdotes about my family life. For added oomph and to keep it real I'll also elude to my struggles as a Mum who is an introvert, has ASD and an Anxiety Disorder.

In late 2015 I was diagnosed with early stage triple negative breast cancer. Which is a shame, because I've never really liked pink. You can read about my 'diagnonsense' here. I'm now cancer-free and a proud survivor. I have my chemo curls to prove it! Nanna Ness FTW!

Nanna Ness. Winning at life
since 1971!

Sound depressing?

Well, life isn't always about cakies, unicorns and Carpenters music. Although I'm trying my best to make it that way! I still to love to laugh and I promise if you stick around you will too!

So sit back, grab a cuppa and a cakie and lets have a giggle together!

For further fascinating details about me pop over here.

You can also come and say hi on Facebook or Instragram Free
cakies* for any one who meets me there!

*They are virtual cakies, so you have to imagine them. DETAILS!

  8. Such an awesome first post/about me page. I laughed out loud when you said your hubby was an accountant. I was convinced being like Steve and all that he would be a tradie of some sort. Very nice tale :)

  13. What a lovely introduction. You really gave people the chance to get to know right at the start. I was still trying to be all anonymous and enigmatic in my early days :)
