Another Monday has rolled around , Mr 4 had his customary
Monday Morning ‘headache’ otherwise known as Mondayitis, I have another horrid Man Cold since all the
males I live with can’t seem to treat their germs the same as the TV remote and
NOT SHARE, and it’s time for another round
of confessing. This week is all about
channelling our inner Billy Fields and confessing all our bad habits. Anyone under 40 and/or not Australian is
probably thinking Billy Who?
This dude, and this song.
Like Billy, I’m afraid I
have far too many shockingly bad habits.
Negativity
I seem to be a ‘glass half empty’ kind of girl. I don’t know
if this is related to being Aspie or just to being me. Micky Blue Eyes mentions
his fervent desire to just take off to Darwin or just about anywhere, in fact and my train
of thought goes something like “Oh shit, plane travel with 3 kids.
NIGHTMARE. Scorching heat. NIGHTMARE.
NO WAY. FUCK THAT.” Versus: "Awesome. A chance to travel in Australia and
spend time with my family."
Procrastination
I seem to live by the motto: Why do today what you can put
off until tomorrow? This seems to worked out well considering that I’m now 42
years old and still have no idea what I want to do when I grow up.
Comparisons
I have the extremely helpful gift of constantly
comparing myself with others and finding myself lacking. This is not supremely useful in life. I don’t
recommend it.
Disorganised
This is one trait where I’m totally going to use my Ass
Burgers as an excuse. Because apparently we can be impaired in something called 'Executive Function' which, according to Prof Tony Atwood's Complete Guide to Asperger's Syndrome, is a psychological term which includes:
- organisational and planning abilities
- working memory
- inhibition and impulse control
- self-reflection and self-monitoring
- time management and prioritising
- understanding complex or abstract concepts
- using new strategies
Also according to Wikipedia, I can also use it as an excuse for my inability to resist cake! See, I knew it wasn't my fault! Which brings me to my next bad habit...
Over Eating
I eat a lot of cake. And chocolate. And bread.
And…EVERYTHING.
Emotional Eating
I eat more than usual of all of the above when I’m sad or
stressed.
More Eating
Then I just eat some more just for the sake of it.
Did I mention, eating?
Yep, you guessed it, more eating.
General Laziness
I would be completely and utterly shocked and appalled at my own monumental and breathtaking laziness except that I CAN’T BE BOTHERED. What I can be bothered doing, though is...
EATING! You know, just for something completely different. Then I get depressed that I’m
fat, so I eat some more and get more depressed and more fat and so on…and
basically one way or the other I just need to shut my mouth. Either shut it it
and stop eating quite so much or shut it and stop whinging that I’m fat. Genius.
Quite a few of these habits fall into the area
of ‘blogging’ habits as well as personal.
I’m a disorganised, lazy blogger who flies by the seat of my pants and pulls
any ridiculous, tedious rubbish out of my arse at the last minute, just like this crap. You’re welcome.Linking up with Kirsty from My Home Truths for I Must Confess.
What are your bad habits?
That is exactly how I blog so you aren't alone !!! I like to eat to but have had to cut out sugar - you won't believe how that has cut down the scope of what I can actually eat !!!! It sucks big time !
ReplyDeleteI used to be Negative Nelly but then decided that that had to change and I have been making serious efforts to change how I think - sometimes I get it right, sometimes I don't !!!
Have the best day !
Me
I'm so addicted to sugar- you have no idea. Well, you probably do have some idea what with all my references to cake..
DeleteSnap to pretty much everything on your list!! Except the negativity and comparisons. I really try to not look at thins negatively, it took a while but I can see the positive in a lot more than before. As for comparisons I try not too compare myself too much Maybe I am a littl more grown up than I thought!!
ReplyDeleteps I cannot wait to overeat again!!
You do seem like a positive person, Ann, which is awesome.
DeleteHope it's not too much longer before you can over-indulge again! xo
I pretty much blog the same way. Well except for Thursday and Friday because I am supposed to act all grown up and have commitments. Being a grown up is stupid *stamps foot*. I am a glass half empty kinda person too but I like to call it being a realist rather than a pessimist.
ReplyDeleteI love how you keep it real, Tegan. It really does suck being a grown up. Sigh. xo
DeleteI'm on fluids at the moment with a dodgy playing up pancreas so I don't even want to think about eating or food. I had to skip that entire section. Finding it hard on fb most other social media platforms too when every second post is food related and includes photos! Doesn't help that the inlaws have just been, straight from an all you can eat food cruise and spoke about food non stop and expected full cooked (by me) breakfasts each morning. How I got through that week is beyond me.
ReplyDeleteOh no, you poor thing. Your in-laws sound a tad inconsiderate. I hope you're feeling better very soon and can get back to regular meals. xo
DeleteI was going to comment about the negativity, but then I thought, what's the point, you probably won't even read this, it'd be a waste of time...
ReplyDelete;) :)
Ha ha, of course I'm reading..I'm procrastinating from doing the dishes! xo
DeleteComplete procrastination addict here as well! Oh...and eating! Of course I compare myself to others, it's called being human. I might just go and get another bit of chocolate :)
ReplyDeleteI am very human, then. And craving chocolate BIG TIME. x
DeleteI've been humming that song for days, believe it or not! And I love "Ass Burger" - gold, Ness!
ReplyDeleteMy parents used to have that single back in the days when we still had records, which shows how old the song is. Not me, of course! And yeah, it's Ass Burgers or Asparagus Syndrome, the former is my favourite, too. xo
DeleteI can relate to a LOT of your habits hon. And yes, I had no idea who he was so thanks for that :)
ReplyDeleteI avoid bloggers who post too regularly. Who the hell has the time to read 12 blog posts every single day? Well, me, actually, but I'm not going to :D Not to mention, the quality definitely falls the once a day bloggers are nearly always very repetitive, or the articles are very short, or dull, or all of the above. I would rather you posted once a week, or a fortnight, or a month with something interesting than just any repetitive whatever every single day. But then again, don't listen to me, as we know I don't, always, play well with others ;)
Yes, actually I agree with you that it's better to post interesting stuff less frequently than any old crap for the sake of it, and you do that brilliantly.
DeleteAnd I guess you weren't missing much not knowing who he was, but trust me to torture you with cheesy music. :D
Well you happen to be one of my favourite bloggers! I love coming here and always walk away laughing. Much of your list applied to me as well. Particularly those involving laziness and a lack of house work! Fairy wishes and butterfly kisses to you lovely Ness, hope you are feeling better soon
ReplyDeleteAwww, thanks Rhianna that is so sweet, and I'm glad I make you laugh.
DeleteI have to say you certainly don't sound lazy at all with all your exercise and things you tweet about, you sound constantly busy and on the go. Which reminds me, I should go and exercise! xo
What I find really bad about bad habits is the often enormous inability to break them. If anyone can tell me how they manage to break bad habits, I'd be all ears.
ReplyDeleteI don't have many bad habits, but how do you define a bad habit? Some people may consider certain behavior to not be a bad habit at all. If you don't admit it's a bad habit, is it a "bad, bad habit" or just denial?
Anyway, we could all use a little self improvement, but I'll just resolve to put that off for a while. Did anyone say my Martini is ready?
Ben
Billy Field sounds very much like the great Louis Prima. Prima was the guy who wrote "Sing, Sing, Sing" among other great songs and performed with Keely Smith and Sam Butera back in the '50's in Las Vegas in the States. I like Prima, and Field sounds pretty good too.
